Case Studies

"We are being asked to improve our productivity, but we are being given no new resources."

Issue
A shortage of resources is always a problem, and frequently a chronic one in the non-profit world.

Case
One of our clients was a human resources department that was under a hiring freeze but was faced with an increasing demand for its services. In this case we were asked to conduct an organizational review.

Solution
While we reviewed the department's organizational structure and job descriptions, we also examined their business processes and objectives. The net result was that Johnson & Lawrence was able to lead the department through a business process re-engineering exercise that allowed the staff to redefine their business processes to be more effective and efficient. This enabled them to restructure their organization, positions, and responsibilities so that they were better able to carry out their mission without an increase in staff.
